Developed by a professional performer turned child development specialist, Broadway Prep combines the creativity and energy of our Broadway & Me classes with a play-based curriculum that gives children the opportunity to learn through child lead explorations. Each week, Broadway Prep teachers bring the show of the week to life through music, dance, dramatic play, and process art activities. Snack time, sensory play, outdoor adventures (weather permitting), and of course, bubble time, round out the daily routine. Designed specifically for children ages 2-4 years old, Prep provides a fun and supportive environment where little ones (and their parents) can adapt to being on their own in a "big kid" class at their own pace. While the goal is drop-off, we understand that for many children, this will be their first separation experience. Parents will be allowed to stay in class with their child for as long as necessary and Prep teachers will work with parents to create a drop-off routine for each child that ensures both kiddos and their parents are comfortable. Parents and caregivers whose children feel comfortable being dropped off are welcome to stay at Soul City and hang out while classes are taking place but it is not required. There are plenty of comfy couches, tables where you can work remotely, and free wifi!​ With flexible enrollment options, you can join us 1 or 2 days per week or drop-in as your schedule permits. This Middle School Class is perfect for an after school Art Experience. We will complete roughly 1 project each day- :) Includes all sitting fees, materials and glaze/ studio fees. Yes- You can bring a snack to class & eat before we begin.

Where they are: Children are ready to embark on a classroom experience without their adults by their side. They are ready to develop early literacy skills; collaborate and negotiate with their peers; and learn ways to communicate, cooperate and play together. What to expect in class: A playful twist on a traditional preschool/pre-k class. Children will develop the fundamental skills necessary for reading and writing as we explore letter recognition, phonics, sight words, spelling, and comprehension. They will build social skills during Gathering Time, while exploring the day’s fun and imaginative theme, and during Show and Share. Children will learn decision-making skills and build fine motor skills during our station play, and expand their creativity through art. The learning will extend to the home with printable “Literacy Kits”, with letter and theme-based worksheets. We will help prepare them for a lifetime love of school, classrooms, and learning.

Laura graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where she underwent a rigorous academic art education. Her disciplined training included studying the human figure and mastering various traditional art mediums such as pastels, oil painting, watercolors, pen and ink, and much more.
Laura's own artwork is a testament to her vibrant and painterly style, ranging from tight realism to wild non-objective abstractions. Known for her "Figurative Abstractions," Laura infuses her work with emotionally charged colors, figurative distortions, and expressive brushstrokes.

We will be touring all around the Historic French Quarter and 2 historic surrounding neighborhoods of the Marigny and Treme. We will talk about the rich cultures, people and traditions of these neighborhoods that date back to the 1700's. From our beginnings as a Native American trading post to a raughty French penal colony to the rich African culture of music and Mardi Gras revelry, we will cover it all! 300 years of Creole history from a 6th generation New Orleanian! We start at the Mississippi river and take our time strolling through the French Quarter and chronologically move from the Quarter to the Treme and Marigny. Stops such as Jackson square, Congo square, St. Augustine Church and Frenchmen street and on to the French Market. Mid tour we will grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant and continue on to the most historically significant stops in the French quarter and surrounding neighborhoods.
