Fall Semester Session One (August-October) This class is designed to enhance the artistic abilities of tweens by developing advanced skills and fostering creativity. Our instructional approach emphasizes foundational principles, precise technique, and constructive critique, all while cultivating a comprehensive art portfolio. Personalized attention is devoted to refining drawing skills, painting techniques, and creative expression. Small class sizes enable us to provide both group instruction and individualized guidance. Classes are limited in size, so sign your child up today!

Preschoolers can now experience the magic of Broadway with a class designed specifically for them! Each week, Broadway Little Stars introduces preschoolers to a new musical through activities inspired by the “show of the week” and designed to get them singing, dancing, and acting along. Classes are taught by professional teaching artists who are experts at engaging and educating children in fun, developmentally appropriate ways. Whether your child is ready for the spotlight or simply loves musicals, this class is for them!

Our Advanced Art Class is perfect for children ages 9–14 who are ready to work more independently while still benefiting from the guidance and support of a teacher. Students create larger-scale projects using a variety of mediums, including acrylic on canvas, watercolor, sculpture, mixed media, and more. We encourage creativity, individual expression, and the development of artistic skills at each student’s own pace. Each month features a new theme to inspire creativity, along with access to hundreds of images in our in-house gallery for reference and inspiration. Whether your child has years of experience or is simply passionate about art, our welcoming studio environment provides the perfect place to learn, create, and grow.

After school, we’ll offer a mini-version of our famous Hi-Five Sports Camp that has thrived for over 35 years. Our After School program will allow children to get a taste of a variety of sports under the guidance of great coaches – encouraging sportsmanship, teamwork, and FUN. The Hi-Five After School Club will focus on the core sports in our Summer Camp program – basketball, softball/baseball, football, soccer. In addition, we’ll play a wide variety of schoolyard games that get the kids moving and competing. Whether they make a mistake or lose or they make a great play or win, they’ll learn from it and keep playing. We believe the key to teaching kids how to play sports is through encouraging them to develop the proper fundamentals and play with passion. Above all else, we want to make sports FUN to help them fall in love with playing the games, just for the sake of playing! It’s as simple as that.

*Mid-session registration: If you are signing up AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF THIS SERIES OF 8 CLASSES, email info@marvegos.com about a possible project conflict before you arrive for class.* Our school year curriculum for age 12 and up emphasizes personal responsibility and self-directed art-making under the guidance of the instructor. Individual goals are established and records of progress kept. A sketchbook is required for this class. This program does not require students to have prior art-making experience. Students new to ADEX are required to complete 3-4 prerequisite projects that introduce new mediums and the fundamentals of composition, color, and form. These projects also serve to familiarize students with the studio’s layout, proper setup and cleanup procedures, as well as essential steps in project planning. These prerequisites are completed at the students’ pace and typically take at least one session to complete.

While the goal is drop-off, we understand that for many children, this will be their first separation experience. Parents will be allowed to stay in class with their child for as long as necessary and Prep teachers will work with parents to create a drop-off routine for each child that ensures both kiddos and their parents are comfortable. Parents and caregivers whose children feel comfortable being dropped off are welcome to stay at Soul City and hang out while classes are taking place but it is not required.

Broadway Stars was created by a professional performer turned child development specialist with the primary goal of helping children develop the foundational skills and technique every musical theater performer needs while giving them the opportunity to find their voice, build confidence, and do what every budding Broadway Star loves most: PERFORM! Classes are taught by a team of professional teaching artists with years of experience in the classroom and on professional stages and feature a customized curriculum designed to challenge and showcase the strengths of each young performer while helping prepare them to participate in our mainstage musical this Spring. Each week, your child will participate in acting games, choreography rehearsal, and vocal coachings as they learn scenes and songs from Broadway Musicals that they will perform onstage for family and friends at the end of the semester. Whether your child is destined for the lights of Broadway or simply loves to perform with their friends, this class will spark their creativity and give them the confidence to shine both onstage and off! *While participation in our Fall Semester is not required to enroll in our Spring Production classes, it is strongly encouraged. *Our Fall Finale will take place on a weeknight the week of December 14. Once we know how many students are participating in Stars this Fall, we will be able to finalize the location, day, and time and share that information with families. *There will be no regular class the week of Decembr 14th as we will be doing our performance instead!

Do you love to dance and want to learn more? Is dance a tricky spot for you in Theatre? Are you new to theatre and want to get your feet wet? Been dancing for a long time and want a refresher? This class is for you! Intro to Musical Theatre Dance introduces students to the fundamentals of musical theatre dance technique and performance. Dancers will explore jazz-based movement, musicality, character expression, and storytelling through choreography inspired by Broadway productions. Emphasis is placed on confidence, coordination, stage presence, and ensemble work in a positive and supportive atmosphere. Students will also have a few weeks dedicated to learning introductory tap steps. Students will develop skills that directly support future stage performances, including learning choreography quickly, taking direction, staying in character while dancing, and performing confidently as part of an ensemble. The techniques and performance habits introduced in class will help prepare dancers for TCHA musicals, community theatre productions, auditions, and future musical theatre opportunities both on and off the stage. No prior experience is required for this class. Music & Movement 10:30-11a In classes we'll sing traditional songs and also sing original JAMaROO Kids songs created by our own team. Many songs will focus on the alphabet, building vocabulary, and basic math skills. We will begin to explore basic music theory by introducing children to fun characters such as Octave the Octopus! Each month our curriculum will change to ensure children stay excited about class and are always learning something new while providing them with enough repetition to master new skills and vocabulary. Art in the Park 11:05-11:35 This class is perfect for children who are new to preschool or will be entering preschool soon. In classes we'll Explore different art mediums while fostering speech and language development and exploring textures, colors and shapes, all while being in one of San Francisco's most beautiful parks! At JAMaROO Kids all of our music, dance, art, and yoga curriculum is developed to support and foster all five key areas of development: Cognitive, Speech & Language, Gross Motor Development, Fine Motor Development, Social and Emotional.
