Individual goals are established and records of progress kept. A sketchbook is required for this class. This program does not require students to have prior art-making experience. Students new to ADEX are required to complete 3-4 prerequisite projects that introduce new mediums and the fundamentals of composition, color, and form. These projects also serve to familiarize students with the studio’s layout, proper setup and cleanup procedures, as well as essential steps in project planning. These prerequisites are completed at the students’ pace and typically take at least one session to complete.

Back to school! This class will use slabs to make boxes and dishes for keeping things organized on your desk or table. Family day workshops are designed for parents and children to work on projects together led by an instructor. One reservation ($50) for up to four participants, an $20/person for more than four (paid day of). No experience necessary. There is no age limit, but participants under 4 years old will require much more guidance from guardian. All kids must be accompanied by a guardian. Clay and underglaze are included. Projects will be clear glazed and ready for pick up two weeks after the class.

Who is it for?: Our Teen Parkour Teams are focused on rigorous parkour and games in a fun and inclusive environment. We create a safe and challenging place for kids who are serious about parkour to practice and have fun with their friends and coaches. We focus on challenging our athletes to grow and succeed in parkour, movement, and life. This team is open to all genders. What do we do on this team?: This team is for the teen parkour student who wants to get better at parkour and have fun doing it. Students play games, complete obstacle courses, practice tricks and skills, goof with friends, and learn how to deal with the stresses of daily life. When is this team offered?: This team practices on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7:30pm with an Open Gym on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30. This schedule is designed to give athletes time for deep practice, open ended exploration and play, as well as coach led instruction. Longer practice times and multiple day attendance allows for better learning outcomes and more relaxed learning environments. Outdoor practice will be offered once a week, weather and daylight permitting. Field trips, team building activities, and adventures are also part of your teen’s experience! Stages was created by a professional performer turned child development specialist with the primary goal of helping children develop the foundational skills and technique every performer needs while giving them the opportunity to find their voice, build confidence, and do what every budding Broadway Star loves most: PERFORM! --Weeks 1-2 (Sep 9 - Sep 19): I Hope I Get It!-- During the first two weeks of the semester, students will participate in a personalized audition process. Auditions at Stages are designed to be a low stress, fun experience. Middle School Musical students get the chance to do a comprehensive audition process complete with 32 bar cut vocal audition, dance call, cold reads, and callbacks. Casting will be done traditionally with 1-2 actors playing each role. EVERY CHILD WILL BE GIVEN A ROLE IN THE SHOW. We will work together with children to make sure they have a role. that they are excited to perform! --Weeks 3-11 (Sep 21 - Nov 21): Putting It Together-- During Weeks 3-9, the cast will participate in weekly rehearsals. During these classes, we will focus on character development, blocking the show, learning choreography and music. --Weeks 12-14 (Nov 30 - Dec 19): Prepping for Opening Night-- During Weeks 12-14, the cast will begin running doing “Run Thrus” where they perform the show from start to finish. We’ll also start adding in transitions so performers know when and how to enter/exit the stage, when to get microphones, make a costume change, or pick up a prop from the prop table. These classes are VERY important and we ask that you do your best to ensure your child is at every class unless they are ill. *There will be no class on November 25 and 28* WINTER BREAK: December 21 - January 2 -Additional rehearsals may be added the early in the week of December 21 but these will be optional to accommodate families who are traveling. TECH WEEK: Sunday, January 3 - Thursday, January 7 The week of the show, we will be having rehearsals after school at the theater. These rehearsals will be MANDATORY.
